NMMU Madibaz George RFC are looking forward to an exciting season having been promoted to the SWD Premier League after their win against Heidelberg RVK in the 2014 Presidents Final at Outeniqua Park at the end of last year.

In addition to their premier league commitments, the Madibaz will compete in the annual University Sports South Africa (USSA) rugby tournaments in both the fifteen-man and sevens codes; as well as the popular Varsity Sevens tournament scheduled for April in Cape Town.

Head Coach, Wayne McAfee, believes the upcoming season will be a big step up for everyone. "We worked really hard to gain promotion last season and we believe the SWD Premier League is where a club like NMMU belongs. The first season is always the toughest, but we have a great culture, good rugby players and plenty of talent, everyone is excited and eager to get started," he said.

NMMU Madibaz George is an open rugby club and anyone interested in competing in the premier division, playing socially or just having fun and making friends can join the training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at NMMU George Campus from 18:00. Training will commence on Thursday, 29 January 2015. Interested persons can also contact the team manager, Marnus de Klerk at marnus.deklerk2@nmmu.ac.za, for further details.
