Boost for business with exciting new programme offering at Nelson Mandela University George Campus from 2017

Advanced Diploma in Business Studies

The introduction by Nelson Mandela University of a new postgraduate qualification at the university’s George Campus from 2017 augers well for the business sector in the Garden Route and beyond. 

The Advanced Diploma in Business Studies: Management Practice, will be offered full-time over one year with the maximum period of study being three years. A number of flexible formats that could include block-release options and/or a combination of evening and day classes is being considered.

It is expected to also appeal to Nelson Mandela University graduates who have completed the three year diploma programme in Management, Marketing or Tourism Management.

Admission requirements

The admission requirements include a relevant 360-credit Diploma in the chosen field of specialisation, or an equivalent qualification, with a mark of at least 60% obtained in the relevant majors of the previous qualification.

Recognition for prior learning is also possible.  In such instances an applicant’s experience in a commercial and/or business environment will be considered and competence in the relevant fields, including numeracy, computer and communications competence, will be assessed in order to determine whether exemption from certain modules will be possible.


The curriculum comprises of the following modules: Financial Management; Business Research Principles; Quantitative Management Practice; Employment Relations; Strategic Management; Principles of Corporate Citizenship; Quantitative Merchandising Practice; and a Management Project.

Each module carries a credit value of 15 (120 credits for the completed qualification) and is rated at NQF Level 7.
