Change the world

In a continuous effort to narrow the gap between the business sector and students within the higher education sector, NMMU’s George campus has welcomed industry expert Mr Bobby Hoole to share his expertise. He is the fire protection officer of the KwaZulu Natal Fire Protection Association (FPA).

The KwaZulu Natal FPA is one of the most advanced FPAs in the country. They are using revolutionary technology to serve members of the public and to manage fires.

Forestry students and members of the public who attended the informative talk were made aware of the day to day activities of the Fire Protection Association and the role it plays within the region and within communities. Once students have qualified within the Forestry field, part of their daily routine includes fire management.

Mr Hoole brought the reality of fire management face to face with students and shared his experience with local industry representatives who were also invited to attend his talk.
