George Executive Mayor, Charles Standers (left); NMMU George Ward Councillor, Leon van Wyk (right), and Clr Chris Neethling (third from right) who also represents NMMU George Campus on the university’s executive structure, were among the guests who attended the VC’s official welcome event at NMMU George. With them are Martin Loubser (third from left) currently the acting Campus Principal, Prof Jos Louw, Director of the School of Natural Resource Management, and Prof Raymond Auerbach (second from the right), who is the co-ordinator for the Agricultural Management Programme at NMMU George.

NMMU George staff were on hand to welcome and provide information to first year students and parents during the official welcome session for newcomers held at NMMU George recently. Featured at the central information gazebo on campus were - Dekker Vermeulen (left) who heads up the Academic Administration Unit at NMMU George, with Clr Chris Neethling, Elise Labuschagne (Academic Administration), Dr Jaap Steenkamp (Senior lecturer in the School of Natural Resource Management), Alicia Maclean (Marketing and Corporate Relations Unit) and Magda Eybers, another stalwart from Academic Administration.

Dave Jenkings who heads up Student Development Services at NMMU George is flanked by How2helpers (senior students) Thandokazi (TK) Sanadayo (left) and Nontethelelo (Nonte) Khambula on the right. Dozens of senior students, including members of the George Student Council, assisted in welcoming first year students and parents at George Campus for the 2013 intake. They are also providing general support to newcomers throughout the registration and orientation period. Lectures at NMMU commence on 11 February for all students.

Proud parents Paul and Rentia Hoffman with their daughter Anika and son-in-law Andre Botha also attended the official welcome event for first-year students. Anika has enrolled for a BCom degree at NMMU George.
Son and father, Daniel and Danie Terblanche; How2Helper, Roelof Steyl; lecturer in the education programme, Dr Suz Phillips, with another first year student and her parents - Stefanie, Leonie and Willie Oosthuizen. Both Daniel and Stefanie are enrolled for the BEd (FET) programme.
